Adverbs

An adverb is a word or phrase that modifies or qualifies an adjective, verb, or other adverb or a word group, expressing a relation of place, time, circumstance, manner, cause, degree, etc.. (e.g., gently, quite, then, there ).

1- Adverbs of certainty express how certain or sure we feel about an action or event.

Adverbs of certainty go before the main verb unless the main verb is 'to be/auxiliary', in which case the adverb of certainty goes after.

Example: He apparently left the house this afternoon. so, He is definitely running late.

2- Attitude adverbs give information about the subject's feelings about a situation being described.

Example: We unfortunately lost the game.

3- Adverbs of judgement are used to judge or evaluate.

Example: She would wisely distribute some tasks between us.

"They both can be used at the beginning of a sentence, at the end of it, or before a verb".

Preposition

A preposition is used to show a relationship between the noun and pronoun in a sentence.

A preposition must always be followed by a noun or pronoun in a sentence.

Prepositions can never be followed by a verb.

Prepositions of instrument or device

A preposition of instrument or device is used when describing certain technologies, machines, or devices. These prepositions are by, with, and on. Typically, by refers to methods of transportation, whereas with and on describe the use of machines and other devices.

For example:

Aunt Patricia returned home by ferry.
She opened the locked door with an old key.
May I finish my homework on your computer?

Conjunction

conjunctions are a group of words used to connect clauses or sentences or to coordinate words in the same clause (e.g. and, but, if ).

Correlative conjunctions include pairs such as:

"both & and" "either & or" "neither & nor"

For example: I want either the cheesecake or the chocolate, We'll have both the cheesecake and the chocolate cake.
